pure illness…i could definitely see this being a good competitor for the mpc…personally i would buy this over an mpc, as long as it could match up sound quality wise…akai aonna like it thats for sure..haha
[Reply]
I feel ya fam! We’ll definitely see what happens when it drops. But on principal, I think many will not give it a chance because it’s not an mpc.
i’ll have mines tho lol

would be coo, but I don’t see them doing it. They opted for usb connectivity. Since you can hook up usb storage, they probably didn’t see the need for a cd burner/player.
but it would allow for quicker sampling off of a cd.

how would you sample then using a USB?

either you’ll be sampling via the analog input or you will be dragging your wave samples over via usb, on a thumb drive, or sd card, and chopping them up that way.
so if you have tons of samples on your computer, mp3s, etc…just turn them into waves and drag over to your beat thang, or put them on a thumb drive.
then you can open them up, assign to a pad, and start choppin.
it would be cool to have a cd where you could sample the audio off of it though…but it’s definitely not a deal breaker, it’s more integrated with the computer and various forms of portable media.
we’ll see how the workflow is once it gets here

yeah…well if you think about it alot of folks already have their samples on the computer in wav format. So putting them on a thumb drive is quick…but it’s all good, you can still sample into it analog
[Reply]
so what type of files can it import i hope more than wav and can you export file by file into protools

all I know for now is wav, I would hope eventually some mp3/rex2 files…maybe even old mpc files, but we’ll see!
you can export your solo tracks as waves then bring them into protools

yeah man, that will be dope.
I highly doubt you’ll see sampletank import, but you never know, they may start workin wit a sound conversion company or something
instruments are cool, remind me more of a mophatt module than a sampletank
